UPDATES

08.18.08 A painting commissioned by ScanSource is available for viewing.
08.10.08 A new painting is available for viewing, as well as a peculiar poem. It's a peculiar poem because it's really just a thorough exploration of a metaphor written in the style of a meant-to-be-orated story.
07.24.08 Three new site designs are up in the web and print section. I'm also a few days from completing a commissioned painting that's been over me since April. Whew! It'll be up soon if all goes well.
06.21.08 Can you believe it? Finally, a new update after 4 months! Loads of new paintings, three new site designs, and even a corporate photo are now available for you to view. Other noteworthy items are 1) I had my first solo art show this month and of the 60+ pieces I had on display, I sold right at half of all of them (of all various sizes)! 2) I really want to redesign this site. That's a major reason I haven't updated in a while; I'm just disenchanted with this design now. It's too densely packed and image presentation isn't nearly as effective as it could be. So the goal is that by the end of August I'll have a fresh, simple, intuitive site up. And 3) I finally purchased a nice DSLR camera. Perhaps an influx of photography is eminent?
02.26.08 Five new photos and two new designs are available for you to view. Numerous photos were archived (again). Also, I've been working on a series of large paintings for the past few months. They look beautiful, but I'm feeling undecided about documenting them here until after they premiere in a gallery. We'll see. But at the very least, you can know that I have been painting very actively over the last three months.
01.22.08 After eight months and three failed attempts to create a beautiful painting on a specific challenging surface, I have finished Zero Anno Domini.
01.10.08 I finally documented some paintings commissioned by Grace Church in Greenville, SC. You can see both of them in the paintings section. I also have a new, simple site design available for you to check out. Plus, I'm working on a site right now where the design is so unconventional that I think I may need to use Flash if I am going to document it here (a static picture just doesn't work)!
12.16.07 More new stuff: Symmetry Series 02, Where I Go to Be, and a completed Family Photos section!
12.12.07 New stuff: A painting, an ancient self portrait I recently dug up, a site design, a longboard design, and a quick blog. And have you noticed the "Family Photos" section I snuck in under your nose? It's only about one third of the way finished. I just have to take the time to add the rest of the photos and their descriptions to the database.
10.25.07 A bit of my story is available. Also, the paintings section is in the process of being upgraded.
10.15.07 A new website design is available. I also archived a handful of items from the web and print section, again, in favor of a better sampling of portfolio work.
10.12.07 Holy smokes! I broke my collar bone two weeks ago and have allowed this site to get way behind. Here are some items of interest.

  • Three new paintings have been added and one old painting was redocumented. Check that section out.
  • Many photos were archived (can't be viewed anymore) in preference for a stronger sampling of my work.
  • Many photos were updated with darkroom versions. 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11
  • I have several things I want to write about, so now that I am getting more able to type with both hands, more quasiblog entries should come soon.
  • I was in a show three weeks ago, a show a week ago, have work in some sort of big "tour of homes" event (which will have an accompanying catalogue including my artwork) right now, and Grace Church commisioned two very large, very bargain-priced (heh) paintings. Pretty spiffy, methinks.
09.06.07 Why I wear a ring is available.
09.05.07 If you can believe it, I uploaded two new daily compositions today! Also, I have updated a number of photos with versions that were developed in my darkroom. Here are links: 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08
09.02.07 My continuation of the previous blog entry is available. Also, check out the new article link in Noteworthy Links.
09.01.07 A new blog entry is available. And hey, ladies, please visit the top link in the Noteworthy Links section.
08.26.07 I posted a new blog entry: Processing Mother Teresa. The link to the Time article is below in the "Noteworthy Links" section.
08.25.07 SMPC wireframe and the sun, etc are available in web & print and quasiblog, respectively.
08.20.07 Here's another new blog entry about some advice for myself.
08.18.07 Today I posted a new blog entry about having blue hair (which includes a photo). In other news, yesterday I was asked to display some paintings in an art show in a small gallery in Seneca, SC. That's exciting. It will be in September. Lastly, ESP gave the thumbs up on their new site.
08.10.07 Two site proposals were given the green-light over at Clemson last week and both of them are now viewable in web and print.
07.21.07 Two new designs added to web and print. I also updated six photos with scans of the images I developed in my own darkroom. They are a big improvement on the original negative scans, so check 'em. Here are the links: assorted ironworks, drip drip leaf, edges, wall composition, the elderly, radial
07.07.07 ESP logo pitch and my online portfolio history added to web and print.
07.01.07 To a young dancer added to blog.

Web and print section is now available. The next big implementation will be textual notes for each piece. I feel it is important to provide details (medium, motivation, dimensions, etc.) for certain pieces, and the dynamics of doing that non-obtrusively meant setting up the rest of the site first. I'll get cranking on that pretty soon.
06.24.07 Other media and painting sections are now available.
06.23.07 Major aesthetic improvements were made site-wide, and the pottery section is now available.
06.17.07 General poetry section is now accessible.
06.14.07 Haiku are now accessible. To accompany the reappearance there is also a new blog entry that talks a bit about my history with haiku.
06.11.07 Where is my loyalty? (including a dialogue that proceeded from it) added to quasiblog.

Six new DCs added and 11 old DCs removed. Of the ~500 paintings I've made in the last 3.5 years, I prefer to display only those which I feel 1) look good and/or 2) are somehow important to me. There are a number of paintings you can see here that I feel have little-to-no aesthetic merit. I keep them on display because I value the memory of their creation that I see when I look at them. For those that don't offer #2 and no longer fulfill #1, I scrap them from this portfolio.

You'll also notice a new exploration of 3D objects in my DCs - namely buttons, thread, salvaged trashy jewelry, and heavily textured museum grade mat board. I'm diggin' it.
06.09.07 Photographs are now accessible, including six previously unreleased images.
05.27.07 The viewport for Daily Compositions will now use a toolbar instead of textual links. Enlarge and purchase functions are now available. As a sidenote, for the first time I can remember, I actually prefer Internet Explorer's display of this website over Firefox's. IE is still a thorn in my web developer's side, but I figure I'd throw some props given the remarkable occasion.
05.23.07 Bio is up. Daily Compositions are up, but with two important features yet to be added. The revised section will allow each painting to be viewed in a virtual frame, and if one feels so inclined, one may also purchase the painting(s) online.
05.22.07 Check out the new do! For the time being, only the quasiblog is live. It's been so long since I've updated that I am going to publish the other sections as I bring them up to date. There is more to come soon!
